Render a scannable barcode from any text in your browser with JsBarcode and download it as an SVG. No upload.
Rendered in your browser with JsBarcode. Nothing is uploaded.
What the barcode generator does
Type a value and pick a symbology (CODE128, CODE39, EAN13, EAN8 or UPC) to render a scannable barcode as scalable vector graphics. Download it as an SVG for crisp printing at any size.
Frequently asked questions
Which format should I use?
CODE128 covers almost any text and is the safe default. EAN13, EAN8 and UPC require the right digit counts because they are retail product codes.
Is my data uploaded?
No. The barcode is drawn in the page with JsBarcode.
What is the download format?
An SVG, which stays sharp at any print size and can be opened in design tools.
How to use it
- Type or paste the text or number you want encoded into the input field.
- Select the required format: CODE128 for general text, CODE39 for alphanumeric strings, EAN13 for 12 to 13 digits, EAN8 for 7 to 8 digits, or UPC for 11 to 12 digits.
- Set the bar height by entering a pixel value if the default does not suit your layout.
- Click Generate barcode, verify the rendered output appears below the controls, then click Download SVG to save the vector file.
Where it comes in handy
Print barcode labels for a small retail batch. Enter a 13-digit product code such as 9780131103627 into EAN13 mode, generate the SVG, and place it on a sheet of 60 per A4 self-adhesive label stock for stickers on packaging.
Mark 200 library books for a school inventory run. Use CODE128 and generate barcodes from call numbers like ABC-00421, then print them at 300 dpi onto plain paper before laminating and attaching each one to a book cover.
Produce check-in badges for a 150-person workshop. Assign each attendee a numeric ID, batch-generate CODE128 barcodes, and export them as a single multi-page SVG that fits on standard 3 by 5 inch card stock.
Worth knowing
- CODE128 renders any string, but special characters such as the angle brackets, ampersand, and backslash may be rejected by the renderer depending on browser version.
- EAN13 and UPC do not accept free-form input; if the digit count is wrong the barcode fails to render and no file is produced.
- The height control changes the exported SVG dimensions proportionally — increasing height to 120 px stretches the bars vertically but does not widen the quiet zones or change module width.
