There are no affiliate links on this site. This page explains why it still exists.
This page used to carry the standard disclosure: that TinkerLog participated in the Amazon Associates Program and other affiliate schemes, and that purchases made through links on the site might earn a commission. That was true when the site was a set of buying guides. It is not true now.
There are no affiliate links on this site, no sponsored posts, and no paid placements. Every tool is free, and nothing on any page is there because someone paid for it to be.
What changed
The product guides were removed from the site. With them went the affiliate links, the ranking tables and the commercial incentive that comes with recommending one product over another. What remains is a set of calculators, converters and developer utilities that answer a question and ask for nothing in return.
We kept this page rather than deleting it, for two reasons. The link sits in the footer, and a removed page leaves a broken link. More importantly, a disclosure page that quietly disappears is worth less than one that explains the change — a reader who remembers the old site deserves to know what happened to it.
How the site is funded
Running costs are covered by the operator. There is no advertising on the pages, no upsell, no premium tier and no newsletter capture. If that ever changes, this page will be updated before the change takes effect, not after.
Editorial independence
Because there is no revenue tied to anything here, no recommendation can be bought. That is a weaker statement than it sounds — a site with no commercial relationships has nothing to be independent from — but it means the usual conflict of interest simply does not arise. For how the tools are chosen and checked, see the editorial policy.
