QR Code Generator — make a scannable QR code

Runs 100% in your browser — nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored.

Turn any text or URL into a QR code and download it as a PNG. Generated locally, so the content never leaves your browser.

The code is generated locally — the text never leaves your browser.

How to use the QR generator

Type or paste any text or URL into the box and the QR code appears instantly. Pick a size, then press Download PNG to save it. The encoding happens entirely in your browser, so the content is never sent to a server.

What can you encode?

Anything a QR code can hold: a website link, Wi-Fi details, an email address, plain text, or a phone number. Keep very long strings in mind — the denser the code, the higher the error-correction level is set, which helps scanners read it.

Frequently asked questions

Is my data uploaded?
No. The QR code is built in the page with an inlined library. Close the tab and the input is gone.

What size should I pick?
240–320 px is fine for screenshots and most print at small size. Use 480 px if you plan to print the code large.

Which QR format is the download?
A standard PNG image, readable by any phone camera or QR scanner app.

Can I encode a Wi-Fi network?
Yes — paste a string such as WIFI:T:WPA;S:MyNetwork;P:password;; and scan it from a phone to join without typing the password.

How to use it

  1. Type or paste the text or URL into the input box. The QR code appears below immediately.
  2. Click one of the size options — 160, 240, 320, or 480 — to set the output dimensions in pixels.
  3. Press the Download PNG button to save the generated code to your computer.
  4. If you need a different value, clear the input box and start again. The previous code is replaced automatically.

Where it comes in handy

A printer needs a scannable link on a flyer. You generate a QR code at 480px for crisp output at 2×2 cm, then paste the PNG into the design file.

You are setting up a Wi-Fi network for guests. You encode the SSID and password as plain text, generate it at 320px, and print it on a small card at the entryway.

You need to share a contact card with several people at a meeting. You paste the vCard data, set the size to 240px for quick preview, download the PNG, and email or message the file to each person.

Worth knowing

  • QR codes have a character capacity limit. For plain text in alphanumeric mode, roughly 4,000 characters is the practical maximum before the code becomes unreadable. The generator may fail or produce an overly dense pattern if you exceed it.
  • The tool offers no option to adjust the error-correction level manually. It selects the level automatically based on the length of your input, which means short inputs get a lower correction level than longer ones even when you do not need the extra redundancy.
  • Special characters such as emojis, Chinese/Japanese kanji, or accented letters outside the QR-code character sets are not accepted. The input will be rejected or silently truncated rather than converted.
