Type Markdown and see the formatted HTML preview as you type, with the marked library. Nothing is uploaded.
How to preview Markdown
Type Markdown on the left and the formatted HTML preview appears on the right as you type. Headings, bold, italic, lists, code and links are all supported via the marked library, rendered in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
Do I get the raw HTML code?
This tool shows a live preview. To obtain HTML source for a page, view the preview’s HTML in your browser’s inspector.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Parsing happens locally in the page.
Which Markdown features work?
Common ones: headings, emphasis, lists, inline and fenced code, blockquotes, links and images.
How to use it
- Open the Markdown to HTML page in your browser.
- Type or paste Markdown text into the input field labelled input: Type markdown here….
- Watch the formatted HTML preview update on the right as you type; headings, bold, italic, lists, inline code, fenced code blocks, blockquotes, links and images all render live.
- When you need the raw HTML output, open your browser’s developer inspector, select the preview element and inspect its innerHTML.
Where it comes in handy
You have a README written in Markdown and need to test how it will look as HTML before committing it to a repository.
You are drafting a blog post in Markdown and want to check whether your heading hierarchy and list nesting are correct without publishing anything.
You receive a Markdown snippet from a colleague and need to verify that the links, images and code blocks render exactly as intended.
Worth knowing
- The tool is a live preview only; it does not provide a copy button or download the resulting HTML source.
- HTML is generated entirely in the browser using the marked library. No text is uploaded to any server.
- Some advanced Markdown features such as tables, task lists and extended footnotes are not supported by the marked library and will render as plain text.
| Markdown input | What renders | Used when |
|---|---|---|
# Heading | H1 element | Page or post title |
**bold** | Bold text | Emphasising keywords |
*italic* | Italic text | Technical terms or titles |
`code` | Inline code span | Short commands or variables |
- item one | Unordered list | Bullet points |
[link](url) | Anchor element | Inline hyperlinks |
Markdown rendering behaviour depends on the parser in use; switching to a stricter parser may cause certain syntax patterns to render differently or fall back to plain text.
