Favicon Generator — resize any image to a favicon

Runs 100% in your browser — nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored.

Resize an image to a square favicon PNG at 16 to 256 px. Local, no upload.

Resize any image to a square favicon at the chosen size. Runs locally.

What the favicon generator does

Open any image and download it as a square favicon PNG at 16, 32, 48, 64, 128 or 256 pixels. Browsers and CMSes expect a small square icon, and this makes one without leaving the page.

Frequently asked questions

Will it keep transparency?
Yes. PNG preserves transparent areas from the source image.

Which size should I use?
Most sites ship several; 32 px and 64 px cover the common cases, and 256 px works well for app-style icons.

Is my image uploaded?
No. The resize happens locally on a canvas.

How to use it

  1. Open any image file — JPG, PNG, or WebP — using the file input to load it onto the canvas.
  2. Select one of the size options: 16, 32, 48, 64, 128, or 256 pixels. The preview updates immediately to show how the image will look at that resolution.
  3. If the original image is not already square, it will be center-cropped to fit the selected dimensions.
  4. Click Download PNG to save the resized square favicon to your computer.

Where it comes in handy

A developer needs a 32-pixel favicon for a personal project that uses a 200×150 rectangular photo. The tool crops it to a square and exports a PNG in seconds without requiring any sign-up or internet connection after the page loads.

A designer preparing assets for a client website generates a set of favicons at 16, 32, 48, 64, and 128 pixels from a single source image, saving them all locally before bundling them into the project folder.

An app developer creates a 256-pixel square PNG icon for an iOS or Android launcher. The file stays local and can be uploaded directly to an app store dashboard or included in a mobile build.

Worth knowing

  • The image is center-cropped to a square. If your source is rectangular, the left and right edges or the top and bottom will be cut off. There is no manual crop control — adjust the source image beforehand if composition matters.
  • Non-transparent areas remain solid. A PNG with transparency preserves empty pixels, but solid regions like backgrounds or filled shapes will appear opaque even if they were meant to blend with a webpage.
  • Only one size is generated per download. To get multiple sizes, you must run the tool separately for each dimension. There is no batch export option.
