Frequently asked questions
What format is the download?
A PNG cropped to your selection, at the image’s original pixel resolution.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The image is read into the page and the crop is drawn on a local canvas.
Can I crop to an exact size?
The selection is free-form. For fixed dimensions, resize the box to roughly the shape you need before cropping.
How to use it
- Click Open image and choose a file from your device. The image appears on the page.
- Drag on the image to place a selection rectangle over the region you want to keep. Drag the box from its centre to reposition it after placement.
- Grab the corner handle and pull it inward or outward to resize the selection to the desired area.
- Click Crop and download PNG. The browser saves a PNG file containing only the selected region at the original pixel resolution.
Where it comes in handy
A 4200-by-2800-pixel photo needs only the central 1200-by-800 section for a presentation slide. Crop it directly and drop the PNG into the slide without importing a heavy editor.
A full-page website screenshot at 2560-by-1440 pixels contains a banner you want to reuse. Isolate the 1920-by-300 banner strip and download it as a single PNG.
You have twelve product shots stored together in one composite image. Extract each shot individually by repositioning the selection over each frame, repeating the download step for every crop.
Worth knowing
- There is no undo. Once you close the download, the cropped PNG is all that remains — re-open the original file to start over.
- The selection is free-form. You cannot type an exact width or height, so achieving precise dimensions requires visual estimation before cropping.
- The output size equals the selected pixel area. Cropping a 500-by-400 region from a larger image produces a 500-by-400 PNG, regardless of the source file’s resolution.
