Stopwatch — start, stop and record laps

Runs 100% in your browser — nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored.

A simple stopwatch with lap times, built with the page clock. Nothing is uploaded.

00:00.00

A stopwatch with lap times, running in the page.

What the stopwatch does

Start, stop, record lap times and reset. It is built with the page clock, so it keeps running accurately while you use other tabs.

Frequently asked questions

Does it keep accurate time in the background?
It measures real elapsed time, so paused tabs do not throw it off.

Can I copy lap times?
Lap rows are listed on the page; select and copy them as needed.

Is anything uploaded?
No. Timing happens in the page.

How to use it

  1. Open the stopwatch page in your browser and confirm the display reads 00:00.00.
  2. Click the Start button to begin measuring elapsed time from zero.
  3. Each time you need a split, click the Lap button; a new row appears showing the current time in minutes, seconds, and hundredths.
  4. When you are finished, click the Reset button to clear all lap rows and return the display to 00:00.00.

Where it comes in handy

A coach timing a 400‑metre track session can record each runner’s lap time in seconds, comparing splits to 0.1‑second precision across four laps.

A home baker monitoring a 15‑minute pressure‑cook cycle can note intermediate milestones at 5‑minute intervals without opening the oven door.

A student practising piano scales can measure the duration of each exercise round, aiming for under 3 minutes per set while tracking total practice time.

Worth knowing

  • Lap times are rounded to two decimal places; any timing difference smaller than 10 milliseconds appears identical to the nearest hundredth of a second.
  • The timer uses the system clock, so if the operating system suspends or delays updates, recorded times may drift by a few milliseconds over long sessions.
  • Clicking Reset permanently deletes all lap rows; there is no undo, so copy any needed times before resetting.
