Pull a range of pages out of a PDF into a new file, locally with pdf-lib. Nothing is uploaded.
No file selected.
Pick a range of pages to pull out into a new PDF. Everything runs in your browser.
How to split a PDF
Open a PDF and the page count appears. Enter a from and to page, then press Extract pages to pull that range into a new, smaller PDF.
Why local?
The PDF is read in your browser and the extracted pages never touch a server — useful for pulling a single chapter, invoice or signature page out of a larger document.
Frequently asked questions
Can I split into many separate files at once?
This tool extracts one range per run. For multiple splits, run it again with a different range, or merge the results if you need them combined.
Is the file uploaded?
No. Extraction is done in the page with an inlined library.
Does it keep the original layout?
Yes. Pages are copied exactly, including text, images and bookmarks within the range.
How to use it
- Choose your PDF. Click the file selector, pick a PDF from your computer, and the page count appears below.
- Enter the range. Type the first page number into the From field and the last page number into the To field. Both values must be within the total page count.
- Extract the pages. Press Extract pages. The browser reads the file with pdf-lib and generates a new PDF containing only the selected range.
- Save the output. The new file downloads automatically. Open it to verify the pages match what you expected.
Where it comes in handy
A 48-page employee handbook at 2.3 MB contains an updated benefits section on pages 31 through 36. Splitting out that six-page range lets you email just the relevant chapters instead of the full document.
A 12-page invoice PDF at 890 KB includes a cover page, three itemised pages, and a signature page. Extracting pages 4 and 5 gives you a clean attachment for your accounts payable folder without the extra material.
A 200-page scanned contract at 14 MB runs slowly when opened on a phone. Pulling the single signature page (page 199) drops the file to roughly 70 KB, which loads instantly in a mobile browser or PDF viewer.
Worth knowing
- One range per run. The tool extracts a single contiguous page range each time. To produce multiple separate files, repeat the process with different From and To values for each split.
- Page numbers are one-based. The first page is 1, not 0. Entering 0 as the start page will either error or return unexpected results — always begin at 1.
- No file upload, but no cloud access either. Because everything runs in the browser with an inlined library, the tool cannot retrieve a PDF from a URL or Google Drive link. You must select a file already stored on your device.
