Frequently asked questions
Which tags does it produce?
Open Graph (title, description, image, URL, site name) and the matching Twitter Card tags, including the large-image card when you supply a handle.
Why preview the card?
Most platforms cache the first fetch, so checking the card before you publish avoids a stale or empty preview.
Is anything uploaded?
No. Tags are built from your input in the page.
How to use it
- Enter a page title in the Title field. The title appears as the headline on social share cards and should be concise, ideally under 60 characters so it does not truncate in feeds.
- Type a short summary into Description. Social platforms typically display up to 155 characters; anything longer will be cut off in the card preview.
- Paste the full page URL into Page URL. Include the protocol (
https://) so the generated tag contains an absolute address rather than a relative path. - Enter an Image URL and, if you want a large-card layout on Twitter/X, add your Twitter handle in the optional field. Click the generate button to produce the Open Graph and Twitter Card tags and view the live card preview below.
Where it comes in handy
A blog post editor needs share tags before publishing an article that is 1,200 words long. Rather than writing meta tags by hand, the editor fills in the title, a 140-character description, the published URL, and a 1,200-by-630-pixel featured image. The generated tags are copied and pasted into the CMS within two minutes.
A small business owner runs an online store with product pages that already have images at 800-by-800 pixels. They generate tags for ten products in one sitting, checking each card preview to confirm the image displays at the correct size on Facebook and Twitter before adding the code to every product template.
A developer building a static site wants every page to include consistent Open Graph markup. They script a batch of inputs using a CSV file containing title, description, URL, and image path for 200 pages. Each row produces a tag block that is inserted into the site’s layout template automatically.
Worth knowing
- The tool generates tags from the values you type; it does not fetch or validate the URL or image. If the image URL is broken or the page returns a 404, the tags will still be generated but the social card may fail to render on the platform side.
- Character counts in the preview are approximate. Platforms enforce their own limits that can differ slightly from the numbers shown, and some platforms compress text differently depending on the device and audience.
- The large Twitter Card layout only activates when both an image and a Twitter handle are provided. Without a handle, the generator produces the summary card variant, which displays the image at a smaller size regardless of the original image dimensions.
